The Suunto A-10 Baseplate Norhern Hemisphere Compass is fast, simple, and accurate, making it easy to learn and ideal for navigating with a map and compass. For calculating the distances, A-10 has both metric and empirical scales printed in red to stand out on topographic map.
The Earth's magnetic field does not flow evenly between the magnetic poles along the surface of the planet. To overcome this, A-10 has two variants with needles balanced for either the northern or southern hemisphere. This is the Northern Hemisphere version.
Stable Operation
The compass liquid used by Suunto is specially formulated to provide damping over a large temperature range while preventing the needle from sticking.

The lanyard with wristlock is easy to detach for working with the map.
