The AR500 Armor Testudo Lite Plate Carrier is the perfect carrier when armor coverage is your primary concern, but weight is still a factor.

Named after the Roman army's deensive formation, the Testudo Lite is a slimmed down version of the AR500 Testudo Plate Carrier, but still comes ready to provide maximum coverage.

The Testudo Lite is still able to accommodate 10" x 12" or 11" x 14" hard armor. It features a fully-adjustable cummerbund and shoulder straps to fit a wide range of body types, and has plenty of real estate to attach your MOLLE-compatible pouches and accessories.

The Testudo Lite weighs one pound less than the standard Testudo by eliminating the weight and bulk of the padding and 3D mesh, Velcro on the webbing, and removing the side waist straps and buckles (meaning it can only be used with the cummerbund).

The Testudo LIte is AR500's flagship and has everything you need, right out of the box. The cummerbund sports integrated side-armor pockets, and the low-offset shoulder straps mean the rear plate pocket rides at the proper height.

Features:

  • Durable: Constructed with quality nylon and bar tacks
  • All Inclusive: Complete, and ready out of the box
  • Comfortable: Padded shoulder pads
  • Customizable: Built-in cummerbund with side plate pouches
  • Versatile: Designed for optimal mobility
  • Optimal Fit: For body types medium to 2XL

Reviews

Decent, but fit can be off

"The build seemed to be pretty good, I didn’t love the fit for my body type."

— Chris (3/5)

Great fit and durability. Definitely

"Great fit and durability. Definitely a great first by. Carrier is made out of solid material with great feel to it. Straps are cushioned which is a plus. Definitely a great entry carrier for someone getting started."

— Alexander N. (5/5)

No-Frills

"This Plate Carrier is top notch. Everything I need and nothing I don't. The quality is great. However, it is everything I need. Your needs may be different and if you need a few more features, I would suggest looking at the Testudo instead of this Testudo Lite."

— Christopher S. (5/5)

Nice product!

"Well built....nice fit....recommened!!"

— R. w. (5/5)

Alright Piece of kit, just not for me

"It was ok, I didn’t care for the cut, and it was a lot shorter than I expected it to be. Smaller framed people would probably like this better."

— Chris P. (3/5)

Excellent first PC

"So far so good. I'll preface my review by saying that I purchased the Testudo Lite as a civilian for recreational use primarily at courses or shooting matches. Also, given the current political climate I just wanted to get into an affordable plate carrier system in the event they become prohibited or there is further civil unrest as we've seen in major cities. The Testudo Lite checks all these boxes. plenty of attachment points, comfortable, easy to use. I mounted a Blue Force Gear triple mag pouch on the front and 2 AR500 plates."

— Bill B. (5/5)

Very nice

"This was actually an awesome find and a great buy. I would recommend others to buy this especially for a backup or spare. It will get the job done."

— Maria R. (5/5)

Pleased

"First time plate carrier buyer. So far I like the feel and size. Just missing afew features that the full size gen-2 has, but overall I think i will be happy."

AR500 Tetsudo Lite Plate Carrier

"Great vest, great price, good shipping times as always but I only gave 4 stars because it was sent in an unsealed plastic bag w/no instructions. YouTube saved me there. Thanks again LAPG!"

— Dannie G. (4/5)

Nice plate carrier

"I'm a big fella, 6'5" 265 lbs, so I needed to get a plate carrier that would fit 11X14 plates. So I got the Testudo Lite. Extremely well made! Very comfortable even with big, heavy AR500 level III plates with the extra thick frag coating. The Testudo also was fully adjustable to my large frame. I highly recommend it."
