Great fit

"Works great. Perfect as expected from Safariland!"

John C. (5/5)

Quality Product

"As a police officer I was looking for an extra measure of security on my holster. The department did not provide the holsters with the hood guard attached. This piece is easy to assemble and provides the extra bit of security to then make a level two become a level 3 holster. Quality buy, would recommend if you don't have."

Good Addition

"Holster did not come with a hood. This was easy to attach"

Essential Retention for Duty Use

"I'm not a fan of Level III retention, but I don't think that Level I is sufficient. Addition of this Hood Guard to a Level I holster boosts it to Level II and does absolutely nothing to complicate the draw. I actually got clever with this. The only holster I could find for my duty weapon is the Blackhawk Omnivore, and the Omnivore has only Level I retention. Addition of this hood (Warning: It took some 3D thinking and clever engineering) boosted my duty holster to Level II."

Works well

"Inexpensive added security for level 1 holster. quick and easy install."

Quality item for cheap.

"After discovering the thumb strap unlocked several times throughout my work day, I tried to discover what was causing the issue. I'd been yelled at by other officers who discovered my strap unlocked as well. It was odd since I'm not one to play with my gear and inadvertently leave it unlocked. I discovered a combination of things. 1) My arms were of sufficient length and my holster was high up enough that my elbow touched the thumb strap at times, which would occasionally push the thumb strap down and sometimes unlock it depending on the movement (getting out of a vehicle). 2) I wear my seatbelt, and the seatbelt would occasionally do the same thing. I bought a hood guard and a low ride belt mount to alleviate the problem. Since then, I've had no accidental unlocks and feel exponentially more confident in my holster. If you don't have this buy it."

Hood Guard

"For some reason, my dept. did not order our ALS holsters with the hood guards. I found that when sitting in my unit, my vest would press the hood release, deactivating the hood safety feature. After installing the guard, the hood no longer accidently releases."
