The Ranger Up VFA-31 Tomcatters T-Shirt remembers the VFA 31 formed in 1935 under the original designation of VF 1B making the squadron the second oldest active Navy squadron. Since their formation the "Tomcatters" have flown a wide range of aircraft from the F2F to the F/A 18E and set a few records as well. The Tomcatters were deployment buddies with the USS Saratoga for 24 years. They're the only active Naval squadron with aerial victories in three separate conflicts; WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam and launched and trapped the last F14 combat mission and last F14 flight from NAS Oceana to Republic Airport. Some famous Tomcatters include Butch O'Hare and Charles Lindbergh.
This nearly 84 year old squadron is currently stationed at NAS Oceana and is currently flighting the F/A 18E Super Hornet. The Tomcatters would like to remind you that "We get ours at night".
