Art imitates life. And for the American way of life, it's about standing up for principles. It's about standing up for right when the definition of right isn't always concrete. It's about doing what you can to defend those who don't even think like you you-because they're American, and that's their right. But sometimes you have to stand your ground in their best interest, even if they hate you.
Doing the right thing isn't easy. People will hate you. Some will try to hurt you. At times you can be a one man show with an audience of no one.
Answer these questions:
1) Do you love your country?
2) Do you love your countrymen?
3) Are you willing to die for what you believe is right?
If you can answer yes to all three of these questions, then you're a true patriot. It doesn't matter if your people even see eye-to-eye with you. It's about what you know is right. It's about your truth being on the right side of history, even if the present doesn't appreciate it.
Like Captain America said:
"Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right.
This nation was founded on one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world -- "No, YOU move.!"
