Disappointed
"I really wanted to like these boots. I held off on my review for three weeks of every day where, eight and 12 hour shifts. Unfortunately I'm not satisfied with them. Here's why: I recently wore out my second pair of 5.11 ATAC Shield boots. I was looking for something comparable, but lighter and maybe less expensive. This boot shares my two most important features; composite toe and waterproof. The problem with these boots is fit. The 5.11 boot is high-volume. I was hoping these would be a trimmer fit. They are actually worse. The insole that comes with the boot has no substance whatsoever. In order to get them to (kind of) fit me, I'm wearing the factory insole with a Superfeet green insole on top of it. Had I have ordered the boot in a smaller size, it would crush my toe. These boots are made for people with high volume feet and flat arches. That's the only conceivable way the boot would fit you out of the box The other problem I have is with the outsole. It is very slick. I don't know how much I can attribute that to being new, but they are dangerously slick on industrial kitchen floors. By comparison, the 5.11 outsole is very grippy, even on wet or greasy surfaces, even when new. Lastly, and less important; the side zip does not allow me to get in and out of these boots while keeping them laced. The gusset simply doesn't open wide enough. That may be a factor of size (10.5D) and in smaller sizes, that feature may be useful."
