TacVent Plate Carrier Ventilation System

TacVent is built for officers and tactical users who need body armor protection without the constant heat buildup that comes from wearing a carrier against the body for long shifts. Invented by Sgt. Jeff Shelton, an 11-year law enforcement veteran and former supervisor of a full-time tactical unit in Los Angeles, TacVent was developed from real duty experience to help improve comfort under soft armor, tactical armor, and uniform carriers.

Unlike spongy, mesh, absorptive, or inflatable cooling add-ons, TacVent uses true separation to create open space between your body armor and your body.

That separation allows air to move and body heat to escape more freely while worn between your armor and tactical uniform. Research and testing cited for TacVent has shown a reduction in body surface temperature of at least 14.5 degrees, making it a practical option for hot-weather patrol, training days, security work, and extended wear under a vest. The TacVent design uses a corrugated and perforated panel made from an extremely soft, highly flexible, engineering-grade, hypoallergenic thermoplastic elastomer.

It acts as a cushion while maintaining airflow channels, and research cited for the product indicates that the body armor ventilation panel can help minimize blunt force trauma.

The panel attaches with Velcro and can be secured to armor carriers on both the front and back, then removed and reattached as needed while staying in place until you take it off. Key TacVent features include:
