Solid “Basic” Plate Carrier

"Does exactly what it’s meant to do, and does it well. Pair it with some vertical buckles to hang a chest rig from the likes of Haley Strategic, or use one of the proprietary 5.11 attachment panels to really maximize its use in a tactical situation. I replaced the included cummerbund for one with First Spear tubes for easier on/off. Easy to size appropriately. The adjustable plate retention is a nice touch and gives this more of a premium feel than some others."

Good plate carrier

"I bought this to be a weighted plate carrier for exercise. It doesn't work great for that but seems to be a good general purpose PC. As the pictures show, it's a little poufy on the top so it doesn't lay well under a shirt as a concealed/low-viz PC. Just a good GP PC."

"Simple straight forward plate carrier. 5.11 quality as expected. Simplicity of design is appealing as well as the modularity. Upgrading the side straps to something a bit wider but the ones that come with it are fine, no shifting and secure fit, just want a bit of storage with them."

Simple and Great

"This plate carrier turned out to be exactly what I wanted. For me it was between this and the Condor LCS Vanquish which was the same price. Honestly that one still might be slightly better just because Condor has pretty good value. I liked that this had the Gear Set system that makes it super easy to switch loadouts (although the Vanquish seems pretty convenient too) and that I could get it in XL. The 5.11 Prime is simple, has good workmanship, is super-easy to put on and very well-designed. This review is just for the plate carrier itself, not for any Gear Set add-ons. I ordered it in X-Large even though I have normal 10x12 plates just in case I decided to get bigger ones in the future. It has an internal strap that keeps the plates positioned higher in the carrier, but there are no straps (or anything else) that keep the plates from moving side to side with the extra room in the carrier. I'm not taking off a star for that since a) I got a bigger plate carrier and most people won't do that and b) in practice the plates don't really move side to side very much. I really like how this carrier stows in a really compact package as well, and then is ready to go after detaching a couple hook/loop straps. This model unfortunately doesn't have a drag handle for those who absolutely need that. If there's one upgrade I'm looking at, it's probably getting a new cummerbund. I would just like there to be more area to grab my body on the sides and possibly an attachment system. Made in Bangladesh for those wondering. Overall, I'm very happy with this for my needs."
