Another special feature is the Vibram FIRE & ICE outsole used that is made of a special rubber compound that does not harden in cool temperatures to provide better traction in icy conditions.

Tough Boot

"We are foresters and have had several pairs of these boots. We have tried many different boots, but these are our favorite. Can't beat the Vibram sole and Gore Tex liner. These are tough enough for military combat, and are tough enough for our slogs through creeks, briars, mud, rocks, etc. marking and cruising timber The 200 gram insulation works well year round. The insulation is not too hot in the summer, gives some warmth in the winter, helps maintain the shape of the boots when not wearing them, and acts as additional cushion and leg protection on the uppers. The speed lacing is great. Just slip them on and pull the laces tight. Laces are long enough to wrap around top of boot c couple of times to keep debris and critters out. Some reviewers say these boots last them ten years. Maybe so, but in our line of work after two or three years we get another pair. Well worth the price. Will keep buying them."

Do they have a steel or composite toe? This is important to me because those are prohibited by my agency.
These boots do not have a safety toe.

Yes, you should be able to shine these as they are leather.
I am a little confused about size. if i wear an 11 size, what should I order for my 770 insulated boot?
If your normal shoe size is a size 11, we have heard that you should order a size 10.5 or 11 since these boots are insulated, therefore not making them as big inside as non insulated Belleville boots. .
