Blackhawk harness

"Good support with minimal footprint"

ERIC P. (5/5)

One Star Short by One Size Short

"My first one was L/XL and I used it for about a year until the right strap broke. That's ok, I used it to death. Never could get the size adjusted perfect because it was just slightly oversized for me. Hip pain began immediately after breaking so I ordered another one. This time only the S/M was available. The new one is slightly undersized for me but the fit is better because it picks up more weight. The wife put oversized button holes on my side seems of my shirt which wasn't noticed for quite a while by my team partners. If this one had another quarter inch bigger adjustment I would be able to say 5 stars. Nevertheless I don't leave home in uniform without it. I am 6', 235lbs, with a 38' waist. I wished they had a size M/L."

Blackhawk ergernomic Suspenders

"Suspenders were purchased for use with uniform carrier. Suspenders reduce weight on hips and redistribute to shoulders as advertised . Suspenders are easily adjusted for comfort"

Helps a lot

"Very convenient and holds my belt up"

Timmayy (5/5)

Great fit

"My employer gives us the cheapest belt harnesses that the snaps do not hold and cause shoulder pain. This model is much better quality and is much more comfortable and the snaps do not come undone."

Blackhawk harness

"I saved about 30 dollars buying the harness here I have yet to use it but believe it will help me carry all the equipment on my gun belt without dragging my pants down."

Bill W. (5/5)

Excellent product

"The harness is very well constructed and has been instrumental to relieving pressure off the low back and hips. Sizing runs small, so unless you are a small framed individual, order the large/XL size."

Good product, but needs some modifications to design.

"This is a great concept and works well for my needs. I use this setup almost every day. Works well in off duty time when carrying an IWB. Using it this way, under a button up shirt or polo, keeps the weight of my EDC from dragging my pants down. That said, the design needs some work. The strap going across the top of the shoulders should be moved down the the back instead of riding high on the shoulders. Additionally, a detachable sturup should be added to go straight down the back to keep the back of the pants up. Finally, the product should be made to be less noticeable under clothing. As it is, some parts are thick and show up through light weight clothing. This product is good, but has the potential of being great with a few minor changes."

Well thought out

"I have used this harness for 4 shifts now and it is very comfortable for me. I am impressed with how customizable it is. You can adjust it at 7 different points. The sides of it have quick release buckles so u can just keep the keepers on your belt. Also the sides have sinch downs that are very easily operated with one hand. The way it sits on your back the front arms go right over your shoulders where the applets are so you can button them underneath. I am a Federal Armed Guard with 8 hour shifts, and not a beat cop or deputy so I can't say what this is like in severe extended duty but for security guard type use it works very well."

Better options available

"Did not like the amount of modification to my uniform necessary to make this product work. Back Defender is a much better product. I tried the back defender and the black hawk product side by side. Hands down the back defender is better. The back defender offers better weight distribution. It secures my duty belt and allows no movement of it at all. The back defender is much more professional looking and requires zero uniform modification."

Q&A

Hello, Can you more clearly define the difference between "Small/Medium" and "Large/XL" in the context of the Blackhawk Ergonomic Duty Belt Harness? I am 5' 10" tall and slowly shrinking, ha ha Thank you
Hello, I'm very sorry, but I have been unable to locate the size chart from Blackhawk and their rep has not replied to my request. I suggest contacting them directly for further assistance, and I'm very sorry: https://blackhawk.com/help/contact-us
Do you have to cut holes in your shirt? Is there a quick release for going to the bathroom for example for women. Thanks
Yes, there it looks like it's a clip that holds the harness to the belt keeper that you can quickly release for using the restroom. On the 5th picture over you can see it a bit closer. And you would have to modify your shirt in order for the harness to be worn underneath your uniform, and that shows how that looks on that picture as well.
how do i know what size i need?
Blachkawk has informed us that size S/M is for shirt sizes S/M and size L/XL is for shirt sizes L/XL/XXL.
Does this include the belt with the harness?
No this item does not include the duty belt with the harness.
How many of these do you have in stock? I need (8) of them
This would depend on the size needed. Please contact us at 866-793-1911 and we can help you to verify inventory on hand.
Has Blackhawk come out with a new version and fixed all the issued with this belt in regards to the durability? What size would the opening on the shirt have to be and how high or low on the shirt should the opening be?
Positioning of the holes is dependent on the shirt size and body frame of the officer and hips. The you should take your duty rig and uniform shirt into a tailor for measuring. Holes size should be sufficient to pass the attachment through- typically 1.5" to 2" would work. They also made a laminate improvement to the harness to increase durability about two years ago.
What size do I need if im wearing the harness under my vest?
It's hard to say, i'm not sure what size you are, but i would guess that the small medium would be what you would want if you want it closer to your body. I'll check with other customers who have purchased this as well to see if they can add some feedback for you.
